I’ll admit I’m not the biggest fan of LinkedIn. In my experience I have found that most of the contact I have received from the site has been SPAM from either recruitment agencies or random people I have never heard of from industries I have nothing to do with. LinkedIn Groups are also a bit of a waste of time since most just have their timeline overrun by self promoting members and void of meaningful conversation.
Recently I thought I’d spend some money on LinkedIn Advertising. I’ve used their pay-per-click advertising service previously and as with my most recent experiments I have found the cost per click (CPC) to be quite expensive compared to Google Adwords. The leads are no more likely to convert so why would I persist?
Still, I like the concept of LinkedIn and I often come back to the service in the hope of seeing its members use it with less self interest and with more community spirit. It just gets too spamming when everyone keeps promoting themselves.
