Recently I attended my first Google Engage seminar here in Sydney. I had read the agenda and thought I better go and take a look since I had not taken up previous invitations.
In the end I only stayed until lunch. That is not a reflection on the speakers I did see however since they were very professional, interesting, clearly knew their subject very well and yet they were not from Google. Google actually flew out some consultants from private US companies to speak to us and apparently this arrangement was quite normal. At the end of the day the speakers were great so I wasn’t fussed about them not being Google insiders.
I went to the Engage seminar expecting some advanced topics to be covered however I found it quite basic. There was a lot of talk about Google+ and Website Optimizer at this particular seminar which at times felt a little bit like an upsell. This is why I didn’t hang around after lunch.
If you are thinking of attending a Google Engage seminar and don’t know too much about agency level Google Adwords account management then they are worth attending. Some of the material may go over your head if this is all new to you but hang in there and pick up what you can.
